It should be wholly unnecessary to mention that even a slight indulgence in intoxicating liquors may dull the sensibilities and the mental acuity of the speaker to an extent which, while imperceptible to him, may be quite obvious to an intelligent audience.
The wise and intelligent thing for a speaker to do is to be sure he is not only in good health but properly rested and refreshed when his time comes to speak. A short nap an hour or so before the event will work wonders in giving you that vim and vigor and physical tone which will aid immeasurably in putting your speech across.
Words can be extremely powerful. When you are able to use them successfully to express your ideas to your audience, you will be able to leave an imprint in their mind. Good speakers are always able to engage their audience, convey their message and even influence the listeners. It may be easy to read out a speech, but it isn't easy to be a speaker who is able to stand in front of a large crowd especially if you have public speaking anxiety.
