Matron of Honor Speeches - Everything You Need To Know To Prepare a Great Speech!

So congratulations on being named matron of honor. It is a great honor, no pun intended, haha, but it means you are one of the closest and most important persons in the bride's life. And that is saying something. So before we go any farther in preparing the matron of honor speeches, I want to congratulate you. I want to congratulate you, for being such great friend, and the bride to be for finding that special someone.

Now while preparing the matron of honor speeches there are a couple of guidelines you must follow, and they are as follows.

1. 4 to 6 Minute Speech

2. Don't Say Anything Too Embarrassing

3. Add a Punch of Humor

4. Extend Your Gratitude, Love, and Praise

4 to 6 Minute Speech

The wedding can be a long, and sometimes boring event for the guests. So you don't want to ramble on for 20 minutes. You want to make sweet, but short. You can deliver a great speech in a short amount of time, and you won't be the focus of attention for that long, and the guests will thank you.

Don't Say Anything Too Embarrassing

You and the bride may have had some crazy stories like having to streak around campus as a sorority initiative and the campus police ended up chasing and catching you and you had to bailed out by a teacher. Those stories have their time and place, but a wedding, that most likely, has elder couples, is not the place.

Add a Punch of Humor

If you can tell a joke in the beginning of the speech, it has several benefits. It wakens the crowds a little, eases the tension off of you, and helps you get into the speech and deliver a much better speech.

Extend Your Gratitude, Love, and Praise

You want to make sure that you acknowledge what a great pleasure and honor it was be named matron of honor, and make the guests, bride, and groom feel special.

Here is a sample matron of honor speech that does this:

"When I was first told I was going to be matron of honor, I had several different emotions. Happiness because this is a great honor and nervousness because I wasn't sure if this was payback for something I have done in the past. Because (bride's name) knows public speaking and I don't go hand in hand. But then I realized, how truly amazing it was to be able to speak to everyone here, because you (the guests) are what is making this such a special day. You guys are the most important people the bride and groom, and they chose you to share this special day with. So cheers to you guys, and now I need to think of something embarrassing about the bride for making me speak in front of everyone. Haha, but really (bride's name) and I go way back etc."

This gets everyone involved and lets them know how happy you are, and makes the guests feel special, and adds a little humor in it.

So if you can do those things, you well on you're way to writing the best speech you can. However, preparing the speech is only part of it, you also have to deliver the Matron of Honor Speeches
