Before the marriage, while men are dating, they never seem to have much of a problem finding a gift for their girl friend for Valentine's day. A Chocolate Rose, A box of candy, often purchased at the local drug store, or some flowers, picked up at the grocery store. It all works
After getting married, finding a gift has a way of becoming more difficult. Selecting gifts for our wives on Valentine's Day requires more thought. We think that we must come up with a new and original gift every Valentine's Day. A box of Candy, flowers, lingerie, jewelry the selection seems to be very limited. We have already given her all those things, so what are we to do? Actually, there are a lot of great gift ideas, we just need to make a little adjustment in the way we look at the gift. We can update some of the traditional gift ideas we have and find some new unique gift ideas for this Valentine's Day.
Candy has always been a popular gift for a man to give to a woman on Valentine's Day. It can still work, but this time, instead of going to the local drug or grocery store and purchasing off the rack, find a real candy store. Find a Store where they make it fresh. You have been married to her long enough to know just what kind of candy she really enjoys, Give her some, Top of the line, special packaged candy and she will love it.
Do you enjoy working in the kitchen? If you are a hands on type person, you can always give her a box of candy that you made yourself. It will be original, and she will know how much went into it. Making candy does not need to be difficult and can be a great deal of fun. Depending on how much skill you have, you can make it as simple or as elaborate as you dare.
Jewelry has always been a popular gift for men to give to women on Valentine's Day. Usually, something heart shaped, on a chain. Now that Gold is out of reach for most of us, and we have used up the simple heart idea, is there any Jewelry left we can give her? You bet there is, and it can be as fine as some of the costly items advertised but at a much lower cost in dollars. A couple of years ago, I took a Jewelry making course at the local Jr. College. The class was three hours, once a week. I made my wife a necklace that she has not taken off since. I also took a beading course, It was a one evening course, but I had a great time. I was the only male in a classroom full of women, they all helped me and I ended up making a pair of ear rings for my wife. Cost, about $30 but she loves them. Check your local Jr. College for courses.
How about a gift certificate for an afternoon in a day spa? If you are going to do this, make sure that it includes everything from a manicure and pedicure, to the mud bath and massage. If you really want to take it one more step, go to a fine lingerie shop and buy her a nice Bra and pantie set to slip into after that spa treatment. She will feel like a new women. And she will never stop telling all her girl friends just how great you are.
How about Dinner for two perhaps? Here you have two choices. You can take her for dinner where you took her the night you proposed. Call ahead or better yet, stop a few days ahead and reserve the same table that you set at the first time you were there. If this can't be arranged, then cooking dinner for her is the other option. You will need to have flowers and candles for the table. As for the dinner itself, if you can cook, the menu is open for whatever you know she enjoys. If your cooking skills are a little more limited, you can contact a catering house that makes gourmet meals to go, then you will only need to heat them and serve the lady.
And number five, how about a nice glass of wine? Not just a bottle of wine at home, we want to put a little more into it than that. Almost every state has winery's and believe it or not, they offer tours and wine tastings even when that fields are dormant. You can do a computer search and you will find one. Surprise her, don't tell her where you are going until you get there. Take the tour and enjoy the wine. And before you leave, be sure and ask for the Souvenir Glasses.
There are many gifts that you can give your wife. The most important thing to remember is that Valentines Day is all about Love. It is not so much the gift as it is the memories, so don't just make it another gift, make it a gift from the heart.
